The benefits of “salty” air on human health has been known since ancient times. Even more than two and a half thousand years ago for improvement of people salt caves were already used. And in the XIX-th century one Polish therapist noticed that the workers extracting salt on Wieliczka Salt Mine have no asthma at all, and since then treatment by “hydrochloric vapors” began to be used everywhere.
The method of speleotherapy in different resort places is applied today. But “to breathe salt” and thus to get healthier, it is unnecessary to go somewhere far, – salt chamber is in our hotel and health complex.
What is the speleotherapy?
«Salt» treatment which received the name “speleotherapy” was initially used in natural caves with sea deposits. Over time there were special rooms which are already created by the person, walls and which ceiling were revetted with natural salt. Being in these peculiar rooms, it is possible to breathe the air sated with salt molecules and thus to be treated for a number of illnesses.
Today such method of drug-free treatment and prevention of diseases has two names – speleotherapy or halotherapy, and rooms in which improvement sessions are passed, – salt cave, salt room or halochamber.
What and how is treated in a salt cave?
A certain temperature, humidity, pressure and concentration of salt aero ions is maintained in the salt room of the cosmetology center «Vikey». Salt deposits create in a cave an environment free from harmful microbes and allergens, that promotes removal of liquid at inflammatory processes and to the termination of cough.
Therefore, the visit of salt room is recommended at frequent colds, bronchitis, laryngitis, pharyngitis and EENT illnesses (genyantritis, sinusitis, frontal sinusitis, enhancement of adenoids, etc.). Also speleotherapy is considered to be very effective in treatment of bronchial asthma.
In addition, «to breathe salt» is very useful at:
- problems of cardiovascular system;
- various diseases of skin (psoriasis, dermatitis, neurodermatitis etc.);
- damage of operation of musculoskeletal system;
- allergic diseases;
- toxicosis during pregnancy;
- mechanical asphyxia of the child during childbirth or if he was prematurely born;
- respiratory distress caused by the wrong course of metabolic process (diabetes, problems of thyroid body, hormonal diseases, etc.);
- stresses, neurosis, depression, sleep disruption.
The visit of a salt cave is very useful for the immunity raising at children and also for rehabilitation after previous serious illnesses.
As a rule, to gain necessary improving effect it is necessary to pass 10 speleotherapy sessions. But depending on indications which should be discussed with the attending medical doctor, the number of procedures can change. You should also consult a doctor if you have any currently contraindications, forcing them to temporarily refrain from visiting the salt chamber.

Walls of our salt cave have a thick salt covering due to what temperature and moist conditions are optimized and noise is absorbed. It has additional positive emotional effect and due to such situation the feeling of tranquillity and comfort is created.
